Health index indicators

To measure change the Forest Health Index (FHI) scores each indicator on a scale of -10 to 10. A score of 0 means that the indicator matches its historic average. Negative scores mean an indicator is below its historic average, and positive scores indicate that it’s above. Global health indicators can be divided into those that directly measure health phenomena (e.g., diseases, deaths, use of services) and indirect measures (e.g., social development, education and poverty indicators); these are also referred to as proximal and distal indicators respectively.

The GHS Index assesses countries’ health security and capabilities across six categories, 34 indicators, and 85 sub-indicators. The findings are drawn from open source information that answered 140 questions across the categories. The full report offers 33 recommendations to address the gaps identified by the index.
