Residential property prices in Ireland rose 1.8 percent year-on-year in January 2020, following a downwardly revised 0.5 percent gain in the previous month. House prices went up 1.8 percent, faster than a 1.1 percent rise in December; and apartments cost advanced 0.1 percent, rebounding from a 2.3 percent fall. The Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) is designed to measure the change in the average level of prices paid for residential properties sold in Ireland. The index is mix-adjusted to allow for the fact that different types of property are sold in different periods. The national residential property price index rose by a minuscule 0.93% (0.24% inflation-adjusted) during the year to October 2019, sharply down from last year’s 8.34% y-o-y rise, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Ireland.
